Tom Cruise Unleashes Les Grossman In Real Life
Les Grossman is a fictional character Tom Cruise created for Tropic Thunder, a 2008 comedy starring Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Cruise, and several other highly talented actors. In the film, Grossman is a powerful film executive who threatens to bring fire-and-brimstone to the doorstep of gorilla heroin manufacturers attempting to ransom Ben Stiller’s Simple Jack character for $100 million.
Cruise is over-the-top and memorable on many levels in this role, but for some filmmakers currently working on Mission Impossible 7 the Les Grossman character probably is a bit too real right now.
#tomcruiserant is currently trending on social media for what I can only describe as the actor/producer tunneling his inner Les Grossman to the detriment of the MI:7 crew for not following COVID-19 safety protocols while working on the project.
The Collateral star gave a passionate profanity laced warning to film workers’ to follow COVID-19 safety protocols while working or face immediate termination of employment.
With hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 related deaths, record unemployment rates, and entire cities implementing curfews/lockdowns, how is it possible that professionals working in one of the pandemic’s hardest-hit industries to not follow on the job COVID-19 safety protocols?
Some may have been put-off by how Cruise erupted on the set over this hot issue, but I think many reading this now are sighing relief.
I think Jerry Maguire would be pleased with the actor’s conviction. Hopefully his example will encourage others to follow suit. BRAVO, Mr. Cruise.
